Life is Not a Problem to Be Solved
I recently finished reading the book Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life by Hector Garcia & Francesc Mirrales.. And I wanted to share some key takeaways
Life is not a problem to be solved.
Just remember to have something that keeps you busy doing what you love while being surrounded by the people who love you.
I think its so easy to get distracted by what life throws at you..
More work, tight deadlines and the pressure to have a healthy work-life balance .
But the truth is, when we spend our days feeling connected to what is meaningful to us, we live more fully.
So that's going to be my intention for the rest of the year..
Heck, the rest of my life!
I want to feel more connected to the things that inspire me
I want to do things that allow me to hit a flow state that feels good (whether its hiking, painting or working)
I want to continue to surround myself with people who lift me
Our intuition and curiosity are very powerful internal compasses to help us connect with out Ikigai.
So what is ikigai?
Ikigai is a japanese concept meaning a reason for being. As seen in the diagram below, Ikigai lies in the middle of what you love, what you are good at, what you can be paid for, and what the world needs.
I'm still in the process of finding my ikigai, but I feel like I'm getting there slowly but surely.
I've started to remove the work I no longer enjoy and move towards the type of work that lights me up!
And I want the same for you
There is a passion inside you, a unique talent that gives meaning to your days and drives you to share the best of yourself until the very end.
If you don’t know your Ikigai yet, your mission is to discover it.
